Now we have to Stay Off The Freeway

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

As I posted earlier, citizens in Chehalis were allowed to walk all over I-5 while National Guard, the Sherrif’s Dept. and Police officers stood by and watched.

As of this evening wandering around these blocked off areas poses “…a danger to both the citizens and emergency vehicles passing through the area.” So please stay of overpasses and I-5.

A Lewis County Sheriff’s Office press release sent out at 6:10 p.m. Tuesday stated the following:

“People have been congregating on I-5 overpasses in Chehalis to look at damage on I-5 and the water flowing around the freeway. This is posing a danger to both the citizens and emergency vehicles passing through the area.

“Chehalis Police Department is asking that all citizens stay off of Chehalis overpasses and refrain from walking on I-5.”

Walking Down I-5

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

Surprisingly local law enforcement and National Guard allowed the public to walk past the road closure signs posted on the Chehalis overpasses and gaze upon the flooded fields and damage on I-5.

Here’s a collection of photos I took this afternoon on I-5.
